What better way to spend ones birthday than to do your own thing! Anne’s various family members went their own ways leaving us in the villa to enjoy some peace and quiet (not that it’s not a pleasure staying with four children under the age of 7) before we walked into Sóller after lunch to see what was there. We were both pleasantly surprised by the main square, Plaça Constitució, overlooked by the neo-Gothic church of St Bartomeu and the next door Banco de Sóller with its Modernista iron grills (by Gaudí acolyte Joan Rubiò), and by the general ambiance of the place.

We took the 15 minute tram ride down to Port de Sóller, which, whilst set in a rather attractive horseshoe bay, is a little touristy for our liking, with one too many English menus on show.

The chicken curry pizza consumed in Fornalutx as a birthday treat wasn’t a patch on chicken tandori pizza from the Punjab in Leeds, the number for which is 0113 2454514 if you feel the need - I should have known and chosen something more traditional.
