Tuesday 15th September

A lazy start had us on the road by noon, which necessitated a switch to the motorways to reach Anne’s uncle Bob’s place in Tallard that evening (yes, Bob really is her uncle). It’s on the toll roads when you realise the French like to exercise their “right” to tailgate and cut you up at will, and you wonder who designed their junctions, the purpose of which seems to be to cause the maximum number of accidents with minimal amount of road. Whilst we’re moaning about French drivers and roads, what is this “priority from the right” nonsense you find in towns? Complete lunacy, is it some sort of population control measure?

After driving 442 miles in a day we made it to Bob’s where we abandoned the roof tent in favour of a real bed, we thought we’d have enough opportunity to use the tent over the next 18 months. This trip won’t usually be about getting from point A to B as quickly as possible (not really the point of our travels), however we need to do a big shake down of the vehicle and therefore need as much time as possible at Bob’s. Plus, France is right next door, we can come back anytime! SPOT
