Tuesday 22nd September

After a quick stop at the Pont du Gard in the morning (very impressive it was too, how come modern builds fall apart all the time when this has been standing since Roman times?), we passed through Nimes, Montpellier and Beziers as we continued to avoid the motorways.


Our final destination of the day was Carcassonne where we wandered La Cite and indulged in a meal out in the evening to sample the local speciality, cassoulet (a rich, slow-cooked meat and haricot bean stew). SPOT


We have been sending regular Spots which have successfully transmitted from our end, however we managed to quickly get internet access and have discovered no e-mails were sent (we send a signal, several people get e-mails telling them we’re OK). This is annoying and doesn’t bode well in case of emergency, we might have to ring the Spot people and ask them to explain themselves.
