The basis is a buttressed Gothic mass, with other architectural features added during its five hundred year constriction, finished off by Gaudí from 1904-1914. Personally I preferred the Palau de l’Almundaina next door, built as the palace for the Moorish governors who used to rule Mallorca in the 10th and early 11th century.
The Museu d’Art Espanyol Contemporani was a highlight of the day, with Picasso’s 1907 Téte de Femme on show, as well as a Dalí and a couple of Miró’s along with 50 other works by prominent 20th century Spanish artists. On our return we made the most of the afternoon sun by having a final dip in the pool before cooking the nicest piece of steak I’ve had - melt in the mouth.
