We finally left Bob’s place; thanks again to Bob and Sarah for letting us stay and sort ourselves out. There was a last minute crisis as I managed to lose one of my memory keys, so it was a somewhat delayed start after I eventually found it in the food bag (obviously). We headed south in brilliant sunshine and enjoyed a scenic, but slow, drive down through the mountains to the coast and Cannes (it took us 4 hours to do 120 miles, and we didn’t even take the road via the higher col - we didn’t want to set the brakes alight again). My “Must try harder” for the day is to avoid peeing on rocks when on a loo stop at the side of the road, the splash back is troublesome.
We drove through Cannes which is what it is - quite nice, expensive yachts, here’s a picture of a yacht belonging to someone who clearly has more money than taste:
We’re having to think about campsites early these days as it gets dark about 1830 (we’re an hour ahead here), and most of them are now shut in France. We tried about 6 before we found an open one between Cannes and Nice which was still taking in guests at 1900 - a miracle. We’re still not quite brave enough about wild camping, although we never seem to find anywhere suitable either, so are relying on campsites which is a pain as it took us 2 hours to find one tonight. It’s nice though, and we’re right opposite the loo and shower block (where I don’t have to worry about peeing on stones, but there is some concern about not choosing a “hole in the floor loo” - don’t get me started on why the French still have these...). SPOT
We saw the enticingly named “GooGrill” meal advertised everywhere, but sadly couldn’t find the burger place that was doing them so had to make do with pasta for our evening meal. Dammit.

Thanks for the splash-back peeing on the rocks image! It's good to get the full story.
