It didn’t really do much for us, although it was fun wandering around the old town.
Unfortunately the overriding memory I have of Genova is trying to avoid all the dog poo, but we didn’t really give it a chance as we only had a few hours there. So don’t let me put you off, the cathedral was quite cool...looked a bit like a giant humbug. SPOT
We took the coast road again (it’s very scenic) and got as far as Chiavari, sadly we couldn’t even afford the parking in Portofino so had to give it a miss. We’ll go back there when we’re rich. Another slightly pants campsite with more charging for hot water, is this an Italian thing? It’s annoying. We haven’t found any camper van parking places, we’re either missing the signs or not travelling the right roads.
We wandered into Chiavari in the evening where I suddenly found I was too hungry to make it back to the campsite, so we ate out at a seaside bistro type place. We had no idea what we ordered as it was in Italian, unsurprisingly, but it was very tasty (a rice thing and a spinach and stuff in pastry in case you were wondering). The temperature seems to be continually plummeting, I’m digging out my down jacket tomorrow. SPOT
