We started off on a picturesque, slow, mountainous A road before we got fed up and moved to the toll road. The message from Italy is, if you want to get anywhere even slightly quickly then take the autostradas. I say the initial drive was picturesque, it got quite difficult to see anything through the low cloud and heavy rain that we eventually found ourselves in, and which stayed for the rest of the day. The Land Rover is a lot cleaner though which is good as Ben’s wheel cover was looking quite dusty. It was mostly driving today (we broke the 3000 mile mark), we were aiming for Bologna and have made it and are thinking of spending a few days here to sightsee and suchlike. It stopped raining as we entered the campsite, and things just got better from there as we discovered we don’t have to pay extra for hot water. Marvellous. SPOT
