Sunday 31th January - Istanbul to Xanthi

We said goodbye to Istanbul again and headed west instead of east this time.  It was just three hours to the border, then about half an hour to make it through without incident and onto the Greek motorway which will take us all the way to Igoumenitsa.  So far no sign of disruption by the Greek farmers, but we think they have concentrated their efforts further west so we’ll find out tomorrow if we’ll have a clear drive or not.

We’ve stopped at Xanthi for the night and have 575km to drive tomorrow to catch the ferry to Venice early Tuesday morning.
