Friday 14th May - Fremantle

We were up at 6am to be at the test station shortly after 6.30am, but we were still ninth in the queue.  It wasn’t until 9am that we were seen, with the actual test limited to a check of the lights, wipers, horn and a cursory look underneath.  Our examiner was a bit of a Land Rover fan (although his wife wouldn’t let him have one) and he said we’d be fine up north as very little stops a Land Rover.  He did spot that our rear diff filler plug was leaking, so a quick tighten had us as leak proof as a Land Rover gets.

Next it was off to the licensing centre to get our motor vehicle license and compulsory third party insurance,  then to the RAC to get proper third party insurance to cover us for property damage (in case we run into a Mercedes or something equally expensive).  A quick look around a couple of off-road shops (not that we actually need anything, they were just great shops) took us to lunch, and by the time we made it back to Annie’s it was after 2pm.  The decision was made to set off on Sunday rather than tomorrow to avoid a mad rush, but we made a start on sorting ourselves out. Ben was right (of course), the handbrake was binding and is now fine after I backed off the adjuster a quarter turn.

We were on cooking duty this evening, so fed risotto to six and don’t appear to have poisoned anyone.
